GOB LED Module

HMT Display supplies GOB LED modules with a clear protective layer over the LED surface to reduce damage from moisture, dust and accidental contact. Standard configurations offer 600–1000 nits brightness and a 3840 Hz refresh rate, with data and 5V power cables included. The protective coating also helps improve durability for indoor LED screens used at close viewing distances.

Product Overview

What Is a GOB LED Module?

A GOB LED module is based on a standard SMD LED module with a transparent resin coating applied over the LED surface. The coating fills the gaps around the LEDs and adds a protective layer without changing the basic module structure.

GOB is useful for fine-pitch LED modules used in areas where the screen may be touched, cleaned or handled frequently. The coating helps reduce damage from moisture, dust and accidental contact.

How the Module Is Made

Why Choose a GOB LED Module?

GOB adds a protective resin layer over the LED surface, helping reduce damage from moisture, dust and accidental contact. It is especially useful for fine-pitch displays installed in areas where the screen may be touched or cleaned frequently.

Moisture Resistance

The coated surface helps reduce moisture reaching the LEDs and surrounding components. Overall weather protection still depends on the cabinet, connectors, rear cover and installation method.

Dust Protection

The resin fills small gaps around the LEDs, reducing dust buildup on the module surface and making routine cleaning easier.

Contact and Impact Resistance

The coating adds support around the LEDs and helps reduce damage from handling or accidental contact. Normal care is still required during transport, installation and maintenance.

Anti-static GOB LED Module

Protection note: The IP rating of a coated module does not represent the IP rating of the complete LED display. Cabinet design, connectors, cable entries and installation structure also affect the final protection level.

How to Choose the Right GOB LED Module

Check the installation environment, viewing distance, cabinet compatibility and maintenance method before confirming the GOB module.

1. Define the Environment

Check whether the screen is used indoors or outdoors, along with ambient light, moisture exposure, contact frequency and daily operating time.

2. Set the Viewing Distance

Choose the pixel pitch based on viewing distance and content detail. Smaller pitches suit close viewing, while larger pitches are more suitable for screens viewed from farther away.

3. Match the Cabinet

Check the module size, resolution, mounting points, power connection, data interface and scan mode against the cabinet and control system.

4. Plan Maintenance

Confirm service access, spare module quantity and the repair or replacement method before installation.

GOB vs. SMD vs. COB LED Modules

SMD, GOB and COB use different LED packaging and surface protection methods. The main differences are in the module structure, surface protection and maintenance.

Technology Structure Surface Protection Maintenance
SMD Packaged LEDs are mounted on the PCB. The LED packages remain exposed unless an additional protective treatment is used. LEDs and components are generally easier to access for repair.
GOB A transparent resin layer is applied over an assembled SMD module. The coating helps protect the LEDs from moisture, dust and accidental contact. Repair may require removing part of the coating before replacing damaged components.
COB LED chips are mounted directly on the PCB and encapsulated. The encapsulated surface covers the LED chips and provides integrated surface protection. Repair and replacement methods depend on the COB package and module design.

Where GOB LED Modules Are Used

GOB LED modules are commonly used where the screen surface may be touched, handled or exposed to dust and occasional moisture. They are also used in fine-pitch and shaped LED displays that need added front-surface protection.

Retail and Public-Facing Screens

GOB modules are suitable for shop displays, reception areas and other public-facing screens where people may stand close to or touch the display surface.

Rental and Event Displays

Rental screens are moved, packed and assembled repeatedly. The GOB coating helps reduce damage to the LED surface during routine handling and transport.

Fine-Pitch Indoor Video Walls

Fine-pitch GOB modules are used in meeting rooms, control rooms and presentation spaces where close viewing and front-surface protection are both important.

Curved and Shaped Displays

Flexible GOB modules can be used for columns, arcs and other curved screens when the module radius and support structure are matched to the design.

Poster and Portable LED Screens

Portable LED screens are often moved or repositioned. A coated module surface helps protect the LEDs from routine contact during handling.

Outdoor GOB Applications

Outdoor GOB modules can be used when the required brightness, cabinet protection, connectors and cable entries are suitable for the installation environment.

GOB LED Module Quality Control

GOB module quality depends on the base module, resin coating and final inspection. HMT Display checks the module during production and again before packing.

We select high-quality LED chips from leading industry brands such as Nationstar, Kinglight, Ruisheng and MLS, which offer excellent contrast and color reproduction capabilities, perfectly supporting high grayscale display effects of the modules, ensuring that the screen colors are true and natural, and presenting stable and reliable performance.

We use high-performance driver ICs such as MIB5124, MIB5153, ICND2153, ICN2038S, and DP6124, which are equipped with high refresh rate and high grayscale advanced technology, making the module display more stable and smooth.

All indoor LED display modules undergo 72 hours of rigorous aging tests, including 2×24 hours of white balance aging and 24 hours of video aging, effectively improving product reliability and ensuring no dead lights and stable operation.

The surface of the LED module adopts an advanced new transparent material encapsulation technology, which can effectively protect the LEDs on the LED module from water, dust, and damage.

GOB LED Module FAQs

Common questions about GOB LED module structure, protection, maintenance and ordering.

1. What does GOB mean in an LED module?

GOB stands for Glue on Board. A transparent resin coating is applied over an assembled LED module to protect the LEDs and surrounding components.

No. The GOB coating helps protect the front of the module from moisture, dust and contact, but the complete screen also depends on the cabinet, connectors, cable entries and installation structure.

GOB adds a protective resin layer over an assembled SMD LED module. COB mounts LED chips directly on the PCB and encapsulates them as part of the package. The two technologies differ in structure, pixel pitch, surface protection and maintenance.

Yes, but the repair method depends on the module design. The coating around the damaged area may need to be removed before the component is replaced and the surface is restored.

Yes. Flexible GOB modules are available in selected sizes and pixel pitches. The bending direction, radius, mounting method and support structure should match the screen design.
